Ever wonder if you’ve gone to school with, or graduated from an institution that educated a famous Olympian? Now you can find out:

Allyson Felix. This track and field favorite has been sprinting for years, as she’s competed in the Olympics all the way back to 2004. Before strutting her stuff on the Olympic track, however, she earned a degree from the University of Southern California (USC).

Ryan Hall. You might remember Ryan Hall from 2011, when he ran the Boston Marathon in record-breaking time. Now an Olympian, Hall previously attended Stanford University, where majored in sociology.

Jonathan Horton. One of our nation’s best when it comes to men’s gymnastics, Horton graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2008. It ended up being a banner year, as he then went on to compete in the Beijing Olympics.

Misty May. The face of beach volleyball, May got her volleying start at Long Beach State, which is located in the heart of the Golden State: California.

Alex Morgan. One of our nation’s youngest soccer players, Morgan also played from 2007 to 2010 at none other than the University of California at Berkeley.

Michael PhelpsWhere did the greatest Olympian of all time go to college? Why, the University of Michigan, of course.

Rebecca Soni. This gold-medaled swimmer graduated from USC in 2009 with a communications degree.

The takeaway? Earning an Olympic medal takes hard work, both on the field and in the classroom, which, when you think about it, means that it’s no coincidence that our best athletes also have degrees.
